BEA - the core facility for Bioinformatics and Expression Analysis is a national genomic service facility located at the Department of Biosciences and Nutrition in the new NEO building at the KI South Campus in Huddinge. BEA provides an extensive repertoire of genomic technologies to ongoing research projects principally at the Karolinska Institute but also at other Swedish universities. This includes services for genomic analysis based on the Illumina, Affymetrix, Agilent, and ABI platforms for sequencing, microarray analysis and qPCR. Our services are extensive and ranges from experimental

BEA will be partly open during most of the summer 2021 but the staff will be reduced and the service will be limited. NEO doors are locked and we strongly recommend visitors to contact the core facility to make sure that we are present before visiting or delivering samples.
From 2021 all projects at BEA are handled with the new cloud based core facility management system iLab which is connected to the identity management system used by KI. All BEA users need to be registered and approved by PIs in iLabs to initiate a project request at BEA. After registration in iLabs BEA staff will create a project for the customer to approve.
The 10x Genomics Chromium platform an option at BEA core facility. The Chromium single cell assays provide solutions for cell characterization and gene expression profiling. BEA will help users to design experiments, provide reagents and service from the initial cell separation step. The chromium controller device, which is used for separating cells and reagent oligos, is placed at ANA Futura.
