BEA - the core facility for Bioinformatics and Expression Analysis is a national genomic service facility located at the Department of Biosciences and Nutrition in the new NEO building at the KI South Campus in Huddinge.

BEA provides an extensive repertoire of genomic technologies to ongoing research projects principally at the Karolinska Institute but also at other Swedish universities and companies. This includes services for genomic analysis based on the Illumina,10X Genomics, Affymetrix, Agilent, and ABI platforms for sequencing, microarray analysis and qPCR.

Services are extensive and ranges from experimental planning to bioinformatic support. We are also offering services for RNA and DNA purification, nucleic acid quality control and different qPCR based assays.

All projects at BEA are handled with the new cloud based core facility management system iLab which is connected to the identity management system used by KI. All BEA users need to be registered and approved by PIs in iLabs to initiate a project request at BEA. After registration in iLabs BEA staff will create a project for the customer to approve.
A friendly reminder that it is the responsibility of the customer to secure and pick up remaining samples and data which will otherwise be disposed after 12 months. Although raw data will be stored for some time, the BEA core facility holds no responsibility to store preprocessed data or further analyzed data.
